This is a reproduction of the artist’s pastel study after Bloch’s painting “The Mocking of Christ.” The gaze of Jesus Christ is upon all, even after His head was crushed with thorns, and He took on the sins of the mind as He was mocked. The Roman guard figure’s untoward, menacing face is intentionally obscured, depicting that only the light of Christ prevails and is to be focused on.
